Assam: Truck carrying 1100 cartons of liquor seized in Kaliabor, driver absconding

A truck carrying 1100 cartons of liquor was found hijacked at Ambagan in Kaliabor. The truck, bearing the registration number AS 01 DC 5766, had embarked on its journey from Guwahati to Hojair on April 21 but had gone missing upon reaching Nagaon.

After days of intensive search operations, the truck was located in a patrolling depot at Ambagan in Kaliabor, with the assistance of local law enforcement. However, the driver of the truck remains elusive, prompting suspicions that he may be involved in the hijacking.

The police suspect foul play, indicating that the driver might have orchestrated the hijacking to abscond with the valuable cargo of alcohol. As of now, the driver is on the run, evading authorities.

Subsequently, in the presence of the Kaliabor Excise Department, efforts were made to recover the missing liquor cartons. However, approximately 45 cartons were found to be conspicuously absent from the truck. Investigators believe that these cartons may have been sold in the black market by the absconding driver.

In response to the alarming incident, the Uluvani police have initiated a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the hijacking and the subsequent disappearance of the liquor consignment.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to apprehend the culprit responsible for the brazen hijacking and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
