Assam: Truck carrying gas cylinder overturns on NH 127 in Samaguri

A truck carrying a gas cylinder overturned on National Highway 127 late last night, causing a major disruption and raising safety concerns among local residents. The incident occurred at Rangagora Tinali in Samaguri, leading to significant traffic congestion and alarm in the community.

The truck, identified by its registration number AS-01LC-5266, reportedly lost control before toppling over. Eyewitnesses and local residents suspect that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the accident. The precise cause, however, remains under investigation by authorities.

Both the driver and the handyman, who were in the truck at the time, sustained injuries in the accident. They were immediately attended to and are currently receiving medical treatment. Despite the potential for a disastrous outcome given the nature of the cargo, no fatalities were reported, and the immediate vicinity was spared from any severe consequences.

Local emergency services responded swiftly, ensuring the area was secured and preventing any further incidents. The community expressed relief that the accident did not escalate into a more dangerous situation, especially considering the volatile nature of the gas cylinder.

Traffic on National Highway 127 was temporarily halted as emergency crews worked to clear the site and ensure safety. Normal traffic flow has since been restored, but the accident has raised questions about road safety and the importance of alertness while driving.
