Assam: Two arrested with tiger teeth near Manas National Park

The Manas forest department apprehended two poachers in Baksa district near Manas National Park. The suspects were caught in Bodo Bazaar while attempting to illegally sell tiger teeth.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Firoz Narzari (40) from Kumguri and Minister Basumatary (26) from Bongaon. Acting on intelligence inputs, forest officials launched an operation and detained the duo at a tea shop in the market area, where they were allegedly negotiating the sale of four tiger teeth.

During the operation, authorities also seized a scooter and two mobile phones, which are believed to be linked to their illegal activities.

Both individuals are currently in the custody of the Manas Forest Department as further investigations are underway to uncover potential links to a larger wildlife trafficking network.
