Patkai Hills has once again been marred by tragedy as it transforms into a perilous death valley. Two more coal mine workers have lost their lives in an illegal coal mine, and another has been left injured in in the Ledo-Margherita area of Assam's Tinsukia district.
The incident unfolded on September 19 within the confines of an illicit coal mine located at place number 12 in the Tipong Kaliari Chali area of Lekhapani. The mine's owners have been identified as Vikram and Janaik Jaiswal.
According to a worker who was present at the scene, "Three people were present: one was injured, and two had been killed. The police or forest rangers may arrive soon. All of them have left the site. This incident occurred at location number 12. The injured man suffered due to gas exposure, but he is expected to recover soon. I am unaware of his place of origin. The incident transpired this morning, and people refer to him as Limbu, the mechanic."
