Assam: Two sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping minor in Chirang

The Chirang District Sessions Judge's Court has sentenced two individuals to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the gang rape of a 17-year-old minor girl.


The incident took place in March 2023 in the Garubhasha Police Outpost area under the Sidli Police Station. The two accused, identified as Ratan Kisku and Thomas Kisku, were found guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.


The court sentenced 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under the POCSO Act and imposed a fine of 50,000 rupees on the two convicts.


The court declared that failure to pay the fine would result in an additional two years of imprisonment.
