A newly constructed development block office in Goreswar, under the Mathanguri constituency of Baksa district, remains unused and un-inaugurated even two years after completion, raising serious questions about the promises of change made by BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro’s government.
The Goreswar Development Block office, which was meant to oversee development work for 5 Village Council Development Committees (VCDCs) under Salbari and 10 under Mathanguri, currently stands deserted, resembling a haunted house.
In a recent visit to the site, a political leader from a like-minded ally of the opposition Bodoland People's Front (BPF) expressed dismay over the lack of progress.
The abandoned condition of the Goreswar office has become symbolic of stalled development projects in parts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), contradicting the pre-election assurances made by the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL)-led administration.
Locals have also begun voicing frustration over the delay, questioning the accountability of the leaders who came to power on the promise of ushering in transformative governance.
