Assam: Unidentified body recovered from railway track in Chirang

An unidentified dead body was recovered on Sunday morning from the Bongaigaon-Patiladaha railway line near Bijni in Assam’s Chirang district, raising suspicions of a fatal train accident.

According to officials, the body was found at the 176/8-9 kilometer mark on the down line, a short distance from the Bijni Railway Station. Authorities suspect the individual may have died after being hit by a passing train.

Railway Police arrived at the scene shortly after the body was reported and have since taken it into custody. The identity of the deceased is yet to be established, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of death.

Local authorities have appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the victim and have assured that all necessary procedures, including post-mortem and forensic examination, will be conducted as per protocol.
