Assam University result row escalates: Haflong student bodies demand accountability
Several student organisations of Haflong Government College have announced that they will soon convene a press conference to highlight alleged discrepancies and errors in the recently declared odd semester examination results of Assam University.
The decision comes amid growing dissatisfaction among students over the delay in resolving issues related to the results, which many claim contain significant anomalies affecting their academic records.
Student leaders recalled that on June 8, various student organisations had staged a protest at Haflong Government College demanding immediate correction of the alleged errors in the university's published results. During the demonstration, the organisations clarified that their protest was directed solely against Assam University authorities and not against the college administration, faculty members or staff.
According to representatives of the student bodies, despite repeated demands and representations, Assam University has yet to issue any written assurance or official notification regarding the matter. They stated that university authorities had only verbally assured them that all issues related to the odd semester results would be resolved by July 15, 2026.
Expressing concern over the absence of formal communication, the student organisations said the upcoming press conference would be used to inform the public and media about the current situation and the difficulties faced by affected students.
The organisations also plan to renew their demand for an official written notification from Assam University outlining the steps being taken to rectify the alleged discrepancies in the examination results and the timeline for resolution.
Student leaders maintained that transparency and timely action are essential to safeguard the academic interests of students, many of whom are facing uncertainty regarding admissions, scholarships and future academic opportunities due to the unresolved issues.
They further asserted that their movement would continue until a satisfactory solution is reached and all affected students receive justice through the correction of the alleged result anomalies.
