Assam University students, on July 30, staged a protest against the hike in fees for undergraduate, postgraduate, and integrated courses.
According to the student union, members of the university unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) along with students from various departments gathered at the university gate and raised slogans against the administration.
Protesters also reportedly blocked professors from entering the campus.
Students alleged that the administration has once again increased fees by 50 per cent across multiple courses this year, causing significant financial hardship.
They warned that if the hike is not rolled back soon, the agitation will intensify further.
