Assam: UPPL unveils manifesto prioritising Bodo Peace Accord, jobs

The United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) has launched its election manifesto for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) polls, prioritising the full implementation of the Bodo Peace Accord and inclusive development across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

The manifesto, released on September 14 at the party’s central election office in Bhabanipur, Kokrajhar, highlights five core commitments under the theme “Mother, Land, Nation, Education, and Peace.” Party president and BTR Chief Executive Member Promod Boro stressed that UPPL aims to ensure harmony among all ethnic communities while driving development in the region.

Key guarantees include:

  • Mother (Maa): Rs 250 monthly support per household under the Arunodoi scheme.
  • Land (Maati): Secure land rights for all legitimate BTR residents.
  • Community (Jaati): Protection of language and culture for all 26 ethnic groups.
  • Education (Siksha): Quality education and employment opportunities for over 2.5 lakh youth.
  • Peace (Shanti): Launch of the Bodoland Happiness Mission to promote communal harmony.

The manifesto also proposes ambitious initiatives, including a Rs 10,000 crore investment in key sectors, construction of all-weather roads in 3,163 villages, scholarships for economically weaker students, financial aid for women and youth, skill development centres in each constituency, and expansion of educational and employment programs.

UPPL leaders, including founding president and Assam cabinet minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma, MP Jayanta Basumatary, women’s wing president Pratibha Brahma, and BTC councilor Madhab Chetry, attended the release.
