Assam: Violent clash over land dispute in South Kamrup’s Acholpara leaves several injured
A violent altercation erupted in Acholpara village of Jorshimuli, South Kamrup, following a dispute over the division of ancestral land, leaving several people injured, including both men and women.
According to reports, the conflict broke out among siblings, two brothers, Miyachan Ali and Basher Ali, and their sister, Shukurjan Nessa, during a heated argument concerning the distribution of their inherited property. The disagreement quickly escalated into a physical clash, drawing in other family members and villagers.
During the melee, Basher Ali, Manik Ali, Ajmal Haque, and several others sustained serious injuries. The injured were immediately rushed to the Goroimari Community Health Centre for treatment. However, as the condition of Ajmal Haque worsened, he was later referred to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced medical care.
Meanwhile, separate FIRs have been lodged at the Jorshimuli Police Outpost, and police have begun an investigation into the incident. Authorities have confirmed that the situation is under control, and further legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the probe.
