Assam: Water crisis grips Ledo as residents deprived of supply for days
Residents of Ledo Bazar Basti in Tinsukia district’s Margherita constituency are facing an acute shortage of drinking water following the prolonged malfunctioning of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) water supply scheme under Digboi sub-division.
Local residents have been deprived of a regular water supply for several days, forcing many to collect water from nearby sources to meet their daily needs. The disruption has triggered growing frustration among the affected communities.
Sanjeev Gangooli, Assistant Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) Assam State Committee, has expressed strong resentment over the situation and demanded immediate restoration of the water supply.
He warned that if the issue is not resolved soon, the organisation will be compelled to launch protest programmes with the participation of local residents to press for their demand.
