Assam: Water gushes out in place of fuel at Ledo petrol depot, sensation prevails

Sensation prevailed after water gushed out instead of petrol at the Ledo petrol depot in Assam on May 7. This peculiar occurrence, though not entirely unheard of in petrol depots, has raised eyebrows and prompted questions about the integrity of fuel distribution systems.

Interestingly, this is not the first time such an incident has transpired at Ledo's petrol depot. The incident unfolded at Makum Motors, a petrol depot in Ledo, situated within the precincts of the 83 no. Margherita constituency in the Tinsukia district.

A Wagonr bearing registration number AS 04 N 5018, filled with petrol on Monday night, was abruptly halted after just covering three kilometers. Upon inspection, the owner of the vehicle was startled to find water instead of the expected fuel in the tank.

Disturbingly, this is not an isolated incident. Past instances at this very petrol depot have echoed similar concerns, suggesting a recurring issue that demands urgent attention and thorough investigation.

Prompted by these alarming occurrences, a delegation led by Kanchan Borah, the general secretary of AJYCP Tinsukia district committee, swiftly mobilized to the site. Their demand for a comprehensive inquiry into the matter was emphasized as they submitted a formal written complaint to the Ledo police outpost.

In response to the situation, operations at the Ledo petrol depot have been temporarily halted, underscoring the gravity of the situation and the need for swift resolution and accountability.

This unsettling revelation not only raises questions about the safety and reliability of fuel distribution networks but also underscores the imperative for stringent regulatory oversight to safeguard consumer interests and public safety.
