A man identified as Chandrakant Das, the Panchayat Secretary of Bongaigaon was murdered. This turned with the arrest of several individuals, including his wife, Nilima Kachari, and sister-in-law, Binima Kachari, who allegedly plotted the crime. The incident, which unfolded with meticulous planning over several weeks, has shocked the community and raised serious questions about the motives behind the heinous act.
Authorities disclosed that the murder was orchestrated since May, with Nilima Kachari and Binima Kachari reportedly discussing the plan with Manoj Kumar Basumatary, who was promised Rs 2 lakh for the execution. The motive, as per initial investigations, points towards suspicions of Chandrakant Das having links with multiple women, prompting the deadly scheme.
Critical details emerged indicating the involvement of former members of the NDFB (National Democratic Front of Bodoland), including Jyotish Daimary, Nakul Islari, Chagra Narzary, Manoj Kumar Basumatary, Junel Daimary, and Neelima Kachari. These individuals were apprehended following intensive police operations, which tracked their movements from Guwahati in a Bolero vehicle to the crime scene at Kashidoba village.
On June 26th, the assailants, identified as Sagra Narzary and Nakul Islari, arrived on a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle with registration AS 26 7826, executing the murder with calculated precision. Nakul Islari fatally shot Chandrakant Das at close range, underscoring the premeditated nature of the crime.
Commenting on the arrests, the Bongaigaon Superintendent of Police highlighted that five suspects involved were former NDFB members, emphasizing the organized nature of the operation. Nilima Kachari's sister, Binima Kachari, was apprehended from Goalpara in connection with the murder, further complicating the investigation.
