Assam: Wild elephant wreaks havoc in Sonitpur's Balipara

A wild elephant encroached on a sand dune field in Balipara, Sonitpur, creating panic among residents on Thursday morning. 

Frustrated by recurring incidents, locals attempted to drive the elephant away themselves, but their efforts have proven futile. 

Reports indicate that the forest department is yet to arrive at the scene, further exacerbating the community's distress. 

Residents expressed their frustration over the lack of timely action, citing an increasing frequency of such encounters. 

Human-elephant conflict has been a growing concern in the region, highlighting the need for proactive measures to ensure the safety of both wildlife and human lives.
