Assam: Wild elephants ravage homes in Boko's Gadhaputa village, locals demand immediate relief

Panic gripped residents of Gadhaputa village, situated under the Bandapara Forest Range in Boko, after a herd of wild elephants entered the area in the dead of night, leaving a trail of destruction behind.

The herd, believed to be searching for food, damaged the homes and properties of four families during the incident.

The residences of Milon Rabha and Chandrakanta Rabha were completely devastated by three elephants, while significant structural damage was also reported at the houses of Shambhu Basnet, a member of the Gorkha community, and Ananta Boro.

Local sources claim this is not an isolated incident, as wild elephant activity has been escalating in the region over the past several days.

Despite repeated disturbances, villagers allege that the Forest Department has failed to take any concrete action to prevent such occurrences or protect human settlements.

The affected families have urgently appealed to the government for financial aid and immediate intervention to ensure their safety and prevent further damage.
