Assam will grow globally with PM Modi's blessings, says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on February 4 attributed the remarkable transformation of the state to the support and blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sarma expressed confidence that with Modi's backing, Assam is on the path to becoming a global beacon of development.

Sarma stated the shift in Assam's identity from one of destruction to one of development and from agitation to production. He highlighted the astounding progress witnessed over the last decade, a period that surpassed the expectations of the current generation.

Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assam has undergone a monumental metamorphosis. Sarma lauded the construction of nine bridges over the formidable Brahmaputra River as a testament to the state's infrastructural leap. He also pointed to the establishment of 23 medical colleges, an elevated corridor in Kaziranga, a ring road in Guwahati, and the presence of 17 cancer hospitals.

The Chief Minister underlined the success of flagship programs like Asom Mala, the revitalization of the Gauhati Medical College into the largest in eastern India with a Rs 3000 crore investment, and the establishment of AIIMS in Assam.

Sarma drew attention to the expansive development of national highways, the expansion of rail double tracks, and the profound impact of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which has provided housing for 20 lakh impoverished families.

Highlighting welfare schemes, Sarma praised the Orunodoi initiative benefiting 3 million families and the provision of free rice to an astonishing 285 million people.
