Assam: Woman attacked with rods and sharp weapons in Dhubri over alleged property dispute, hospitalised
A shocking incident of violence has been reported from Gauripur in Dhubri district of Assam, where a woman was allegedly attacked with bamboo sticks, iron rods and sharp weapons following a domestic dispute between two groups. The incident has triggered tension in the locality.
According to preliminary information, the clash occurred during the ongoing month of Ramadan. What reportedly began as a disagreement between two groups escalated into a violent confrontation, culminating in a targeted assault on a woman identified as Sakina Bibi.
She was allegedly attacked by a group of four individuals — Sarejahan Ali, Manju Ali, Mominur Ali and Amir Hussain, who are accused of repeatedly striking her with bamboo sticks, iron rods and sharp weapons. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the assault was severe, leaving Sakina Bibi critically injured. She reportedly collapsed on the spot as panic spread through the area.
The incident quickly heightened tensions in Sukhati Khata village, with concerns of further unrest. Police personnel from the Daobhangi outpost rushed to the scene soon after receiving information. Law enforcement officials managed to bring the situation under control and prevented the violence from escalating further.
The injured woman was immediately shifted to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Her medical condition is being closely monitored.
Authorities are expected to initiate further legal proceedings in connection with the assault. Security presence in the area has been strengthened to maintain peace and prevent any retaliatory incidents.
