Assam woman missing in Bengaluru for a week; family seeks CM's intervention
A 22-year-old woman from Assam's Tamulpur district has been missing in Bengaluru for the past week, prompting her family to appeal to the state government for assistance in tracing her.
The missing woman, identified as Sumi Das, is a resident of Harinchara village along the Indo-Bhutan border. According to her family, she had been working at a private company in Bengaluru for the last six months after moving there in an effort to become financially independent and support her economically disadvantaged family.
Her father said she had initially travelled to Tamil Nadu about a year ago in search of employment before securing a job in Bengaluru. She was living in a rented accommodation with three other women.
According to the family, Sumi went missing on June 26. They came to know about her disappearance after being informed by her co-workers in Bengaluru, following which her parents lodged a missing person complaint at Kumarikata Police Station in Tamulpur district.
Police said an investigation has been launched and higher authorities have been informed about the case.
The disappearance has left the family and relatives deeply distressed as they await any information about her whereabouts. Her parents have appealed to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to help trace their daughter and ensure her safe return home.
