A woman was tragically murdered during the night in Diphu, according to Tuliram Ronghang, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
The incident, reported to the media, unfolded when the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, heard a disturbance outside her residence around 12:30 AM.
Sensing trouble, she went to investigate, only to confront two men lurking by the side wall. One was outside, while the other had breached the premises.
A family member, narrating the harrowing ordeal, recounted that before the victim could raise an alarm to alert her family, one of the assailants fired a fatal shot, mortally wounding her.
The attackers swiftly fled the scene, leaving behind a shocked and grieving family.
