Assam: Youth killed by lightning while bathing in river in Bongaigaon

A young man lost his life after being struck by lightning while bathing in a river in West Bhadragaon village under Bongaigaon district.

The deceased has been identified as Abdul Latif, son of Amjad Ali, a resident of West Bhadragaon. In an attempt to cool off from the oppressive summer heat, Latif had gone to bathe in the Kanibhur River, a local waterbody frequently visited by villagers during sweltering days.

According to reports, the incident occurred in the evening amid a spell of light drizzle. Without warning, a bolt of lightning struck the area, killing Abdul Latif on the spot.

The tragic event has cast a pall of gloom over the entire village, with locals mourning the sudden and untimely demise of the youth. Authorities have been informed, and standard procedures for weather-related fatalities are being followed.
