Assam's Dhubri DIG reviews security along India-Bangladesh border

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Western Range, Yeshe Tsering Gwatso, visited sensitive stretches of the India-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district on August 27 to review the security situation and assess measures to prevent cross-border illegal activities.

During the visit, DIG Gwatso inspected key border areas including Patamari, Takimari and Sastar Ghat. He reviewed existing security arrangements along the international border and interacted with local residents to understand their concerns and strengthen coordination between the security agencies and border communities.

The DIG was accompanied by Dhubri Superintendent of Police Debasish Borah, senior officers of the Dhubri Police Administration and representatives of the Border Security Force (BSF).

Speaking to the media, DIG Gwatso appreciated the efforts of Dhubri Police in maintaining security along the border and curbing illegal activities. He particularly highlighted the police force’s role in combating cattle smuggling and the illegal drug trade in the border areas.

The visit comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen surveillance and security along the international border and enhance coordination among the police, BSF and local communities.
