Assam's Dibrugarh Police arrest alleged conman Imtiaz Ali after breaking open door
Police have arrested alleged conman Imtiaz Ali from his residence near the road connecting Chiring Chapori and Amolapatty in Assam's Dibrugarh.
Imtiaz was reportedly hiding inside his house with the doors locked. Acting in the presence of a magistrate, a large police team broke open the door and apprehended him.
According to allegations, Imtiaz had collected crores of rupees from people on the pretext of providing government or other jobs and allotting shops, and had been moving around freely despite the allegations against him.
He has also allegedly identified himself at different times as a doctor and a lawyer, among other professions.
During the operation, police recovered three vehicles from his garage — a Mercedes-Benz (AS 01 TC 2792), Toyota Innova Crysta (AS 01 EL 1183), and Hyundai i10 (AS 06 T 7286).
Police have seized the Innova Crysta, while the other two vehicles have not been seized.
Two cases are already registered against Imtiaz at Dibrugarh Sadar Police Station.
Police have also detained Imtiaz's wife, Manisha Begum alias Pinky, in connection with the case.
