Assam's Juria students impress with mental maths skills through abacus training

Young students of Holy Child School in Juria, Nagaon district, are drawing attention with their ability to solve complex mathematical calculations within seconds through abacus training.

While mathematics is often considered a difficult subject by many students, these children are demonstrating how regular practice and specialised training can help improve their calculation skills and confidence.

The school has introduced abacus classes as part of its efforts to promote the intellectual development of students alongside regular academic learning. The sessions are conducted every Sunday under the guidance of experienced teachers.

Through the use of the abacus, students are learning to perform calculations without relying on calculators or pen and paper. Their demonstrations have showcased their ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.

Parents have also noticed changes in their children's approach to mathematics. One parent said that their child previously felt afraid of the subject, but has shown improved concentration and confidence since beginning abacus training.

The initiative at Holy Child School highlights the growing interest in alternative learning methods in rural areas, where students are exploring ways to strengthen their mathematical abilities through practice and guided instruction.
