A sudden gas leak incident occurred at Oil India Limited's 309 rig in the Makum area of Assam's Tinsukia district on March 9, near Nagajan-Tamulikhat village.
While no casualties were reported, the leak caused a dangerous release of gas creating panic and havoc among people.
Meanwhile, a few villagers narrowly escaped the situation.
Locals have alleged that the incident happened due to the negligence of the OIL.
Divisional authorities from Oil India Limited reached the site after several hours and successfully stopped the gas leak after hours of effort to contain the situation and prevent a major disaster.
