Assam’s Morigaon town biryani outlets under scanner over alleged threats, LPG irregularities

Allegations have surfaced over the functioning of two biryani outlets in the heart of Morigaon town, with some local residents raising questions about the businesses and alleging that their employees threatened and attempted to assault people who sought information about the establishments.

The two establishments, identified as “Delhi Ki Mashur Chicken Biryani” and “Kolkata Archalan Biryani,” have come under scrutiny following an alleged incident in which a group of local residents reportedly approached the employees to make enquiries about the businesses.

According to allegations made by one of the purportedly affected individuals, the employees allegedly became aggressive, attempted to assault those making the enquiries and issued threats to their lives. The individual subsequently spoke to the media about the incident and sought the intervention of the Morigaon District Commissioner.

Meanwhile, allegations have also been raised against Kolkata Archalan Biryani over the alleged use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes. According to the allegations, the establishment has allegedly been purchasing domestic cooking gas cylinders from certain LPG distributor agencies in Morigaon and using them for its commercial operations.

Questions have subsequently been raised over the alleged failure of the Morigaon Food Safety and Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs Department to take legal action despite the allegations. Some individuals have further alleged possible understanding or collusion between the establishment and concerned officials.

The allegations regarding the businesses, use of domestic LPG cylinders and alleged inaction by authorities could not be independently verified. The identities and backgrounds of the business owners and employees also require official verification.
