Assam's Silchar businessman alleges incorrect kidney diagnosis by private lab, files FIR
A Silchar-based businessman and social activist, Kumar Jeet, has alleged that a private diagnostic laboratory issued an incorrect medical report indicating that his kidneys were damaged, causing him severe mental distress.
Addressing a press conference, Kumar Jeet claimed that a test conducted at a private laboratory in Silchar reported kidney-related abnormalities. Doubting the findings, he subsequently underwent fresh tests at another reputed hospital, where the results reportedly showed that his kidneys were functioning normally.
He further stated that he regularly undergoes kidney check-ups every three months at a hospital in New Delhi, and previous reports had also indicated normal kidney function.
According to Kumar Jeet, the initial report left him mentally disturbed, and he said he was unable to eat or drink properly for nearly 24 hours after learning of the findings. He alleged that when he approached the laboratory seeking clarification, he was dissatisfied with the response provided by the officials concerned.
Claiming negligence and mental harassment, Kumar Jeet said he has lodged an FIR at Rangirkhari Police Station and is seeking a thorough investigation into the matter. He also urged the authorities to take appropriate action, stating that errors in medical reports can have serious consequences for patients and their families.
The laboratory has not yet issued a public response to the allegations.
