Captain Khogendra Singh, a resident of Lakhipur area in Assam's Cachar district, who served in the Indian Army for 37 years recently reflected on Operation Sindoor. Singh said, “The Indian Army today is far more advanced in terms of weaponry than it was earlier. Not just Pakistan—any country that tries to challenge India will not succeed.”
Speaking with emotion, he added, “Even though the army has sent me into retirement, I am still waiting. If I am called again, I will be ready to behead the enemies of the nation. I wait for the day when a letter comes, and I put on my uniform and head to the border once more.”
During his service, he was posted across several critical regions—from Jammu and Kashmir to the India-Pakistan border in Punjab.
At one point, his team came under a sudden attack by Al-Qaeda terrorists. In the assault, one of his soldiers was martyred. Deeply moved by the sacrifice, Khogendra Singh and his team launched a fierce counterattack.
Five terrorists were seriously injured, but they managed to escape across the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan. However, Captain Khogendra Singh was not one to back down. Along with his team, he crossed into Pakistani territory, tracked down the five Al-Qaeda operatives, and killed them. In a bold and symbolic act, he brought back their severed heads to India.
