Barpeta murder solved in 24 hours: Three arrested for beating youth to death after drinking session
Barpeta Police have arrested three accused persons in connection with the murder of a young man in the Gayanhati area of Barpeta town, solving the case within 24 hours of the crime.
The arrested accused have been identified as Samiran Gayan, Gonen Das and Jitul Bhuyan. The arrests were made following an investigation led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), Samiran Baishya.
According to police, the victim, Bipul Gayan, was found murdered near his residence on Sunday night. The incident had created shock and concern among residents of the locality.
Addressing a press conference, ASP (Crime) Samiran Baishya stated that the murder was allegedly triggered by an incident related to alcohol consumption. During interrogation, the three accused reportedly confessed to the crime.
Police said the accused had been consuming liquor at the residence of Samiran Gayan. After leaving the house, they allegedly assaulted Bipul Gayan, who was standing in front of his home, and repeatedly attacked him with wooden sticks, resulting in his death.
Investigators further revealed that the victim and all three accused were neighbours residing in close proximity to one another in the Gayanhati area.
The swift arrest of the accused within a day of the crime has been hailed as a significant breakthrough by Barpeta Police. Further investigation into the case is underway.
