Bhogdoi River overflows into Assam's Jorhat Town, Massive Flooding Hits Borigaon

The flood situation in Upper Assam has taken a severe turn as water from the Bhogdoi River surged over the embankment and inundated large parts of the Borigaon area under Ward No. 19 in Jorhat town.

According to local reports, water has been flowing rapidly over the Bhogdoi embankment, submerging residential areas and causing widespread flooding. Borigaon, located near the Baligaon and Malow Ali areas, has been among the worst affected localities, with several houses going under water and residents facing a grim situation.

Authorities fear that the Bhogdoi embankment may breach at any moment if the water pressure continues to rise. In response, local residents and the district administration have intensified efforts to protect the embankment and prevent further damage.

Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other rescue agencies have already reached the affected site and launched rescue operations. Flood-affected residents are being evacuated to safer locations as emergency response measures continue in the area.
