Bihar police constable on Assam election duty dies in Bongaigaon’s Jogighopa

A police constable deployed for election duty in Assam died while on duty in Jogighopa under Bongaigaon district on March 29, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Dayanidhi Singh, a constable of the Bihar Special Armed Police (BSAP), 60th Battalion. He had been deployed in Assam as part of security arrangements for the Assam Legislative Assembly elections.

According to officials, the personnel was stationed at a temporary police camp set up at the Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in Jogighopa. He suddenly fell ill while on duty and was immediately taken to the Chapatala Community Health Centre for treatment.

However, doctors at the health facility declared him dead on arrival.

The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained.

Following legal formalities, the body has been sent to Bongaigaon Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Police authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death.
