BJP candidate list likely after March 18 following key Delhi meetings: Assam BJP chief Dilip Saikia

The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to release its much-anticipated list of candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections, after March 18 following crucial meetings of the party’s top decision-making bodies in New Delhi, Assam BJP president and Member of Parliament Dilip Saikia said on March 14.

Speaking to India Today NE, Saikia indicated that discussions regarding the selection of candidates are expected to take place during a key meeting scheduled in New Delhi on March 17.

“We have a meeting in Delhi most probably on March 17. After our election committee meeting as well as the Parliamentary Board meeting on March 17, or maybe on March 18, the central party will release the list of candidates,” Saikia said.

The meetings are expected to involve the BJP’s central leadership and senior party functionaries, who will deliberate on the final selection of candidates. The decisions taken during the party’s election committee meeting and the Parliamentary Board meeting are likely to determine the final names that will be announced.

The BJP leadership has been holding consultations and internal discussions as part of its preparations for the upcoming political contest.
