BJP candidate list reflects Assam’s social diversity: Pabitra Margherita

Union Minister of State Pabitra Margherita on March 19 said that the BJP’s first list of candidates for the Assam Assembly elections reflects the state’s diverse social fabric, with representation from various communities, youth, and women.

Reacting to the announcement, Margherita stated that a closer look at the list shows inclusion across tribes, sub-tribes, and different sections of society. “Assam is a state with many tribes, sub-tribes, and communities, and the list represents every caste, community, and creed,” he said.

He further highlighted that the party has ensured representation of both “Nari Shakti” and “Yuva Shakti,” adding that more than ten young leaders and several grassroots party workers have been fielded as candidates.

According to him, the selection reflects the BJP’s effort to promote emerging leadership while maintaining a broad social balance. He also claimed that the list has been widely appreciated by the 6.5 million members of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Assam unit, as well as by the general public.

The BJP has already announced candidates for 88 out of the 89 Assembly constituencies, with the final name expected to be declared soon.
