BJP holds rally in Assam’s Haflong demanding arrest of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on February 8, took out a large rally in Assam’s Haflong demanding the arrest of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi, alleging his links with Pakistan.

The rally, organised by the Dima Hasao district BJP, saw participation of hundreds of party leaders and workers who raised slogans against the Congress and Gogoi. Chanting slogans such as “Congress Murdabad,” “Gaurav Gogoi Go Back,” and “Gaurav Gogoi Pakistani Agent,” the protesters marched through key areas of the town.

The procession began in the afternoon from Tularam Playground, with participants carrying placards and BJP flags, and culminated in front of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) office.

Addressing the gathering, Dima Hasao district BJP president Dhriti Thaosen claimed that alleged links between Gaurav Gogoi and Pakistan had surfaced during the investigation conducted by a Special Investigation Team (SIT). He said BJP workers were compelled to take to the streets in the interest of the nation.

Thaosen further stated that the Assam Cabinet, in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, had decided to forward the SIT report related to the alleged Pakistan links to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for further investigation by central agencies.

Urging people not to support leaders involved in what he described as anti-national activities, Thaosen appealed to citizens to stand with leaders who work in the national interest. He also highlighted ongoing developmental works in Dima Hasao under the leadership of Devlal Gorlosa and called upon Congress workers to join the BJP.

BJP workers held rallies in several parts of the state, demanding the arrest of Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi over alleged Pakistan links.
