BJP launches statewide organisational drive; Dilip Saikia outlines roadmap for grassroots outreach in Assam's Sivasagar

Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia on June 15 announced a series of organisational programmes aimed at strengthening the party's grassroots network across the state following its electoral success.

Addressing a press conference after attending a special organisational meeting of BJP workers from Sivasagar and Charaideo districts at KPM Memorial Hall in Sivasagar, Saikia said the party has prepared an extensive roadmap for the coming months based on the mandate received from the people.

He said the organisational outreach programme has begun in Upper Assam, with meetings already held in Tinsukia and Dibrugarh before reaching Sivasagar and Charaideo. The initiative aims to enhance engagement between party workers and the public at all levels.

Saikia stressed that BJP workers must remain actively connected with people throughout the year. To achieve this, the party will organise two-day training programmes at the mandal level and three-day training camps at the district level.

The state BJP chief also announced plans to train grassroots workers in organic farming and environmental awareness. He said special prayers will be held at religious institutions across the state from July 10 to mark 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tenure in office.

As part of the celebrations, BJP workers will undertake a large-scale tree plantation drive across Assam and engage with eminent personalities from different fields through interaction programmes.

Saikia said International Yoga Day and "Vikas Yatra" programmes will be observed at every mandal under the slogan "Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi", while party workers will also focus on taking government welfare schemes to the people and monitoring developmental works on the ground.

Responding to a question on the alleged neglect of freedom fighters Piyoli Phukan and Jeuram Dulia Baruah in national narratives, Saikia blamed previous governments for inadequate historical research. He also referred to the overlooked legacy of the Patharughat Peasant Uprising and assured that the issue would be raised strongly in Parliament.

The BJP leader further stated that initiatives such as Gunotsav and the contribution of national-level educational institutions have played an important role in improving the quality of Assamese-medium schools across the state.
