BJP names Debashish Sharma as candidate for Nagaon Lok Sabha bypoll in Assam

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday, September 11, named Debashish Sharma as its candidate for the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming 2026 by-election in Assam.

The party’s Central Election Committee approved Sharma’s candidature, according to a press release issued by the BJP’s central office in New Delhi.

Sharma is a Rajya Sabha member and serves as the national headquarters in-charge of the BJP.

The Nagaon Lok Sabha seat is among the constituencies where a by-election is scheduled to be held in Assam in 2026.

The BJP has announced Sharma as its candidate as the party begins preparations for the bypoll.
