BJP will retain power in Assam for third term, says BJP MLA Padma Hazarika at Jan Ashirwad Yatra

As the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) intensifies its outreach ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections in Assam, BJP MLA Padma Hazarika on February 28 expressed confidence that the party would secure a third consecutive term in office, asserting that public support witnessed during the Jan Ashirwad Yatra reflected a decisive mandate in its favour.

Addressing a gathering during the yatra, Hazarika said the BJP’s return to power in Dispur was “certain” and that the campaign had demonstrated the electorate’s endorsement of the party’s governance over the past two terms.

“The Jan Ashirwad Yatra has made it clear that the BJP will form the government for the third time,” he said.

Projecting a substantial victory margin in his constituency, Hazarika claimed that the BJP would win the Naduar Assembly seat by over 1.20 lakh votes in the upcoming polls.

The MLA also launched a critique of the Congress, alleging that the party had fragmented the greater Assam built by 13th-century Ahom ruler Chaolung Sukapha and accusing it of carrying out a “parivartan yatra” with the support of “suspicious elements.”

The Jan Ashirwad Yatra, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, began in Dhekiajuli and is scheduled to conclude in the Naduar constituency. Thousands of supporters were seen gathering at the venue in anticipation of the Chief Minister’s arrival.

The yatra forms part of the BJP’s broader pre-election mobilisation exercise across Assam, aimed at consolidating its support base and highlighting its governance record in areas such as infrastructure development, welfare schemes and border security.
