BJP wins mean more work, not rest: Assam CM on party’s governance philosophy

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while addressing a press conference on May 13, launched a sharp critique at opposition leaders for what he described as "immature political commentary" regarding electoral outcomes. Sarma's remarks appeared to reference comments made by a political leader who suggested that while one election result may be favourable, another might not.

"How can someone in public life say one election will be good, the other will be bad? That’s not just immature—it reflects a flawed understanding of governance," Sarma said. Without naming the individual, he expressed dismay that such a figure could be held in high regard by certain sections of the public.

"Does that mean after winning one election, they will stop working and willingly lose the next?" he questioned. “That’s not how the BJP functions. Every victory motivates us to work harder, not relax.”

The Chief Minister went on to contrast the BJP’s philosophy with that of the Congress party, stating, “Congress’s formula is simple—win an election, become complacent, and wait for the next cycle. They assume we function the same way, but our approach is rooted in tireless dedication.”

Sarma emphasized the leadership style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling it an example of consistent commitment. “Just yesterday, the Prime Minister addressed the nation and by morning, he was already at the Air Base. That’s the essence of true leadership. We serve 365 days a year, 24/7,” Sarma declared.

He concluded by reaffirming the BJP’s commitment to governance and progress, asserting that the party’s focus remains unwavering, regardless of the electoral calendar.
