Body recovered from Dikhow River believed to be missing flood victim in Assam's Sivasagar
A man's body was recovered from the Dikhow River in Assam's Sivasagar on July 25, with the family suspecting it to be that of Amlan Borgohain from Mechagarh, who had been missing after being swept away by strong flood currents earlier this week.
According to family members, Amlan was washed away by the swollen Dikhow River on July 23 while he had gone with his friends to witness the floodwaters.
The body was found lodged against a bamboo clump beneath the New Dikhow Bridge in Sivasagar town. Police and disaster response personnel reached the spot to recover the body, and identification is underway.
The incident comes amid a series of flood-related fatalities in Assam, with the recovery of more bodies highlighting the rising death toll caused by the ongoing floods across the state.
