Bol Bam pilgrim killed, another injured after truck rams cyclists in Assam's Morigaon

A Bol Bam pilgrim was killed and another seriously injured after a truck allegedly hit their bicycles at Malputa in Assam's Morigaon district on the afternoon of August 9.

 

The deceased has been identified as Manab Jyoti Das of Nabeti, while the injured person has been identified as Dadul Kakati.

 

According to preliminary reports, the two youths were returning towards Morigaon on bicycles after completing their Bol Bom pilgrimage from Nijarapaar in Jagiroad. The accident occurred at around 4:30 pm when they reached Malputa.

 

A truck allegedly travelling behind the cyclists rammed into them, leaving both riders seriously injured. The truck driver reportedly fled the spot immediately after the accident.

 

Local residents later rescued the two cyclists and found Manab Jyoti Das dead, while Dadul Kakati was found injured. The injured youth was subsequently rushed to a hospital for treatment.

 

The truck allegedly involved in the accident bears registration number AS 01 NC 8626. Further details regarding the circumstances of the accident and the whereabouts of the driver are awaited.
