BPF confident NDA will sweep BTC seats, form govt in Assam

The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on May 1, expressed confidence that the NDA would win all 15 seats in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) region and go on to form the next government in Assam.

The assertion was made by BPF president and BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary after a Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting held at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar.

Addressing party leaders, Mohilary said the NDA would not only sweep the BTC region but also secure more than 80 seats across the state.

He, however, noted that the alliance might face relatively lower vote shares in constituencies such as Parbatjhora, Bijni and Tamulpur, but maintained that it would still emerge victorious in those seats.

During the meeting, Mohilary reviewed the electoral situation with block-level leaders from all 15 constituencies and stressed that strengthening the BTC administration remains the party’s key priority.

“We do not give much importance to whether we are given ministerial positions or not. Our main objective is to work for strengthening the BTC,” he said.

The meeting was attended by several party leaders and workers, who also discussed organisational strategies and post-election planning.
