In a move aimed at enhancing the region's trade infrastructure, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro formally inaugurated the newly constructed Kokrajhar Fish Market on Sunday. Located in the heart of the main market area, the state-of-the-art facility has been developed at a cost of over Rs 1 crore to cater to the longstanding demands of fish traders and consumers in the region.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of key dignitaries including Kokrajhar East MLA Lawrence Islary, BTC Executive Member Saikhong Basumatary, senior officials from various departments, and members of the local community.
Addressing the gathering, CEM Boro emphasized the pivotal role of the fish market in boosting the district's economic activities. He described the market as more than just infrastructure—highlighting it as a symbol of progress and community empowerment.
“The Kokrajhar Fish Market is not just a building—it is the fulfillment of a long-standing demand of the people. This initiative will help boost livelihoods and streamline the fish trade in the district,” Boro said.
He further added that the facility will offer better trading conditions for vendors while also ensuring a hygienic and organized environment for consumers.
