The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTC), Pramod Boro, unveiled a life-sized statue of legendary musician and cultural icon Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in Kokrajhar on November 5, marking his 13th death anniversary.

The statue, which stands at a height of 10 feet 6 inches, was installed as a tribute to Dr. Hazarika's contributions to Assamese and Indian music, culture, and society.

The ceremony was organised by the Bhupen Hazarika Memorial Committee and attracted the attention of local leaders, cultural figures, and the public.

Speaking at the event, Promod Boro made several significant announcements and revealed plans to construct a Bhupen Hazarika building in Jalahat, Baksa District, with an investment of 10 crore rupees. The building is expected to become a hub for promoting Hazarika's legacy.

In another tribute to the musical legend, Boro also announced that 200 of Dr. Hazarika's iconic songs would be translated into the Bodo language. The translation project will be managed by the Assamese and Bodo departments of Bodoland University, ensuring that Hazarika's work reaches a wider audience in the region.

The ceremony also featured the release of a special publication titled "Bhupendra Baibhav," a memorial booklet that celebrates the life and works of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika. The booklet was unveiled during the event, adding to the cultural significance of the occasion.
