BTC chief Pramod Boro dismisses Hagrama’s alliance talk as ‘political drama’

Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Chief and UPPL President Pramod Boro has downplayed BPF Chief Hagrama Mohilary’s recent remarks hinting at a possible UPPL-BPF alliance, stating that “what Hagrama says in the morning changes by evening.”

Speaking to reporters, Boro made it clear that while the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) is open to dialogue, any discussion must be rooted in sincerity and aimed at the welfare of the Bodo community and the 35 lakh people of the BTR.

He recalled that the UPPL had previously made attempts to initiate talks with good intentions, but accused Hagrama Mohilary of turning the entire process into “political drama.”

Boro also underlined that the UPPL does not function on individual whims, saying, “Any decision in UPPL is taken through discussion and consensus within the party.”

The remarks come amid speculation about political realignments in the run-up to future elections in the Bodoland region. However, Boro’s firm stance suggests that the UPPL is in no hurry to revive ties with its former rival without a clear and honest commitment to public interest.
