BTC passes Rs 250 crore additional budget, BPF set to unveil 2026 poll strategy
Briefing the media on December 3, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary announced that the Winter Budget Session of the Bodoland Territorial Council had concluded, during which an additional budget of rupees 250 crore, provided by the Assam Government, was passed.
Mohilary informed that on December 5, a mass gathering of over 50,000 people is scheduled to be held at Barma in Baksa district. During this event, the Bodoland People’s Front will outline its strategy for the 2026 Assam Assembly Election, focusing on public welfare initiatives and the implementation of promises made in the party’s election manifesto.
He stated that BJP workers and supporters are also welcome to participate in the gathering if they wish to do so.

Addressing the ongoing political controversy surrounding the nomination of MCLA Hem Prabha Devi, Mohilary said that if required, the government may request the Governor of Assam to cancel her nomination.
The BTC Chief also mentioned that several construction works undertaken during the tenure of the UPPL government will be reviewed. Illegal constructions will be cancelled, while legal ones will remain intact.
Concluding his briefing, Mohilary confirmed that the BPF will contest the upcoming Assam Assembly Election as part of the NDA alliance.
