BTC special session clears Rs 72.74 crore supplementary demand, passes education bill
The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed the Supplementary Demand (II) for Grants under the Normal Budget 2025–26 and approved a key education reform Bill during a Special Session held at the Council Assembly House, Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar.
The session, presided over by Speaker Tridib Daimari, began with deliberations on the Supplementary Demand (II), which sought additional allocation of Rs 72,74,63,672 from the Council’s own revenue receipts for 12 entrusted departments. The House approved the proposal after discussion.
The Supplementary Demand also earmarked Rs 1,15,58,000 for payment of arrear fixed pay to employees appointed under CSB and Non-CSB in five entrusted line departments who were not covered during the earlier Supplementary Demand (I) Budget Session.
Later in the session, BTC Executive Member for Education Rabiram Narzary introduced “The Bodoland Territorial Council Education (Provincialisation of Services and Re-organisation of Educational Institutions) Bill, 2025” for consideration. Following detailed discussions, the House passed the Bill, paving the way for restructuring and provincialisation measures within educational institutions under the Council’s jurisdiction.
