BTC will give BJP 18 seats, rest to UPPL and BPF: Ranjeet Kumar Dass

Assam minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass inspected the venue in Baksa district where Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s “Vijay Sankalp” rally is scheduled to be held tomorrow.

Speaking to reporters during the visit, Dass made several significant comments regarding the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections.

The minister said there is no conflict between the BJP and its allies, the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), in the BTC.

“This time, the people of the BTC want a BJP government. We will win 18 seats, while the remaining 22 seats will be shared between the UPPL and the BPF,” he asserted.

Das added that the people of the BTC have a greater liking for the BJP, and it is up to them to decide whom they prefer second. He took a swipe at the Congress, comparing the party to “monsoon frogs” that make noise only during the rainy season.

On the issue of eviction drives, Das made brief remarks, while also commenting on the All Bodo Minority Students’ Union (ABMSU) potentially contesting the BTC polls.

“The people here have faith in us, and we are confident of forming the next government in the BTC,” the minister said.
