The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government, under the leadership of Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, honoured 6,387 individuals from across the region for their contributions to society.
The grand felicitation ceremony, held at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar, marked the first such large-scale civic recognition in the history of BTR.
The honourees represented a wide cross-section of the community, including members of Bima Sibinai Bithangkhi—mothers of martyrs of the Bodoland Movement—Dowris of the All Bathou Mahasabha, Ojhas of the Gudi Bathou tradition, and families of 16 martyrs from the Roman Script Movement. Also recognised were radio and television artists, forest conservationists from Sikhna Jwhwlao and Raimona National Parks, and many individuals who have made significant contributions to the region’s peace, cultural preservation, and community development.

During the ceremony, CEM Boro personally handed over cheques of ₹50,000 each to the families of Roman Script Movement martyrs as well as to radio and TV artists. Forest conservationists were awarded ₹10,000 each, while living mothers of Bodoland Movement martyrs were granted a monthly financial assistance of ₹1,000 under the Bima Sibinai Bithangkhi scheme.
The event was attended by Minister UG Brahma, Members of Parliament Rwngwra Narzary and Joyanta Basumatary, MLAs, Executive Members of the BTC, and Bodo Sahitya Sabha President Surat Narzary, among other dignitaries. Cultural performances and traditional rituals added to the grandeur of the occasion, creating a sense of unity and pride.
Speaking at the event, CEM Boro described the felicitation as a historic gesture aimed at honouring the sacrifices, cultural leadership, and social contributions that have shaped the region’s journey. He reiterated the BTR government’s commitment to preserving its heritage while working for peace, development, and social justice.
This unprecedented civic recognition not only celebrated individual achievements but also reflected the government’s vision of building a society rooted in respect, gratitude, and inclusivity.
