Cachar police bust drug peddling network in Silchar, 1000 vials of suspected heroin seized, 3 arrested

In a major breakthrough under the ongoing #WarAgainstDrugs campaign, police in Silchar launched a special drive on Monday morning targeting drug peddlers in the Fatakbazar Kalibari Road area near Chamragudam.

During the operation, the police apprehended three individuals identified as:

Abjol Hussain Laskar (38), son of Alla Uddin Laskar, resident of Water Works Road, Silchar, Cachar.

Kabir Ahmed Laskar alias Biky (30), son of Sajur Ali Laskar, resident of Chamragudam, Silchar, Cachar.

Rone Das (21), son of Late Sudhanshu Das, resident of Rongpur, Karatigram, Silchar, Cachar.

Upon searching the suspects, police recovered 1000 vials (net weight 35 grams) of suspected heroin, cash amounting to ₹21,070, and a Scooty bearing registration number AS 11 W 0754 from their possession.

Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the accused under relevant sections of the law as part of their intensified crackdown on the narcotics network in the region.

Police sources confirmed that the operation was part of a sustained effort to dismantle local drug supply chains and curb the rising menace of substance abuse in Cachar district.
