Candlelight vigil held in Assam's Kokrajhar demanding justice for Rasmita Hojai

The Bodo National Students’ Union (BONSU) organized a solemn candlelight vigil in Kokrajhar on Wednesday evening, seeking justice for Rasmita Hojai — a young woman brutally murdered in Uttarakhand — and honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the recent Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The gathering, marked by silent prayers and glowing candles, was attended by BONSU members, students, and concerned citizens. BONSU Vice President Hem Candra Brahma, speaking to Northeast Live, made a heartfelt appeal to both Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to take immediate and serious action in the investigation of Hojai's murder.

“Justice delayed is justice denied,” Brahma stated, underlining the importance of swift legal proceedings and accountability in the case of Rasmita Hojai, whose death has shocked communities across the Northeast.

Brahma also expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the Ahmedabad plane crash involving Air India Flight AI171, calling for a thorough probe by the Central Government. He stressed the need for robust aviation safety reforms in a fast-developing nation like India to avert future disasters.
